Penn's Gartner Portal
Welcome to Penn's Gartner Portal. Gartner, one of the world's largest information technology research and advisory consulting firms, provides in-depth research and analyses on IT issues, trends, companies, products, and emerging technologies via Penn's Gartner Enterprise Portal Access.
If you already have a WebLogin token, you will be taken directly to the Gartner site by following the above link. If not, you will be asked to authenticate using your PennKey/password. The Gartner service that will be available to you is determined by your University affiliation:
If you do not belong to either of these groups, you will see an error message. If you are feel that you do not have the appropriate access or are having any problems with the Gartner portal, you can ask your Local Support Provider to open a Remedy ticket with the ISC ProDesk.
Please note that the Gartner portal was updated in October 2013. If you signed up for Gartner alerts prior to October 2013, you will not be able to manage them through the new portal.
If you are an IT staff member, choose the "Create New Tracks" section of the new portal to establish alerts. For non-IT personnel, the process for establishing alerts will not change.
NOTE: Please also note that IT staff will need to be logged into GTP in order to directly access information referenced in alerts.
I'm getting an error message when I try to get to Gartner. What does this mean?
An error occured during Federation with Gartner. Please contact your administrator.
There are two reasons why you would get this error message:
- Our contract with Gartner only allows access for active faculty, students, staff and IT staff. If you are not in one of these groups then we're sorry but you cannot use Gartner.
- You are in one of the authorized groups but are still seeing this message. When you first sign into Gartner, Gartner creates an account for you based on information that we forward with your login credentials. Gartner must have: firstname, lastname and email address for you. If this information isn't being forwarded to Gartner, they cannot create an account for you. Please be sure that your email address is public in the Penn Online Directory. This is where we pull email addresses.
If you feel that you do not have the appropriate access or are having any problems with the Gartner portal, you can ask your Local Support Provider to open a Remedy ticket with the ISC ProDesk.
I set up alerts in the old Gartner portal. How do I manage them now?
|The alerts that you set up using the old portal are associated with a general system account and not your own Gartner account. You should continue to receive email alerts but you can't manage them. If you want to delete an alert that was set up in the old portal, you can ask your Local Support Provider to open a Remedy ticket with the ISC ProDesk.
I'm an IT staff member so I go directly to GTP when I enter the Gartner portal. Can I still see the old Gartner Core interface?
|The url for the Gartner Core is: http://www.gartner.com/technology/core/home.jsp. Once logged into GTP you can point your browser to this URL to use the Gartner Core.
I'm an IT staff member and I've signed up for "tracks". I'm getting email notifying me that there are documents available but I can't click through to see them. How do I see them?
|Gartner is still working on the GTP notification process. They plan to have this fully implemented by the end of November. In the interim, if you get email notification that an article is available, please be sure that you first login to the Gartner portal before trying to open any links from the email.
