ISC Zimbra Email Service

Zimbra is an integrated email, calendaring, tasks, and contacts service offered to the University by ISC.  Zimbra can be accessed via a web client and through all recommended email clients at the University such as Apple Mail, Thunderbird, and Outlook.

Email Delegation

Delegation happens when a user shares out their Inbox (or any mailbox) to another Zimbra user. This is all done by the user, no administrator needed.

  1. Login to the Zimbra web interface
  2. Make sure you are in the Mail section
  3. Right-click on the Inbox, or the other folder(s) that you desire to delegate access to
  4. Click Share Folder'
  5. In the box that appears, in the field labeled Email:, type the email address of the person (This must be someone with an account on Zimbra if you want to delegate more than just "View" access) that you would like to manage that email folder
  6. Click the radio button next to the role you would like that person to have. Admin will allow full access.
  7. Choose the message you'd like to send the new account delegate in the Message section
  8. Copy the direct-access URL for the mailbox if you'd like (from the URL section)

For calendaring, ISC recommends using the Zimbra Web Client.

Calendar Delegation

Delegation happens when a user shares out their calendar to another Zimbra user and gives read/write permissions, and the permission to insert items. This is all done by the user, no administrator needed.

  1. Login to the Zimbra web interface
  2. Make sure you are in the Calendar section
  3. Right-click on the Calendar that you desire to delegate access to
  4. Click Share Calendar
  5. In the box that appears, in the field labeled Email:, type the email address of the person (This must be someone with an account on Zimbra if you want to delegate more than just "View" access) that you would like to manage that calendar
  6. Click the radio button next to the role you would like that person to have. Admin will allow full access.
  7. Choose the message you'd like to send the new account delegate in the Message section
  8. Copy the direct-access URL for the mailbox if you'd like (from the URL section)
