Minimum System Requirements for 2014/2015 Academic Year

Windows Systems

  • Memory: at least 4.0 GB
  • Operating Systems: Windows 8.1 Update or Windows 7 SP1 (Home Premium and above)

Mac Systems

  • Memory: at least 4.0 GB
  • Operating System: OS X 10.9 Mavericks, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, or OS X 10.7 Lion

Data Backup

Prior to leaving a computer with the CRC for a System Evaluation, CRC customers are responsible for backing up their own data before the system can be signed in for service.  Examples of services that could potentially impact customer data include:

  • Reinstallation of operating system software (may be required based on the results of diagnostic testing performed by CRC staff)
  • Format of a hard drive
  • Installation of the manufacturer's  restore media

Due to the CRC's inability to verify the ownership of copyrighted material, the CRC will not backup movie or music files under any circumstances.

Hardware Repair

CRC staff will provide limited, "best effort"-type of support that involves hardware repair or replacement.  Typical examples of hardware repair performed by the CRC include hard drive and memory replacement.  The CRC reserves the right to refer customers to third-party vendors or to the manufacturer when a system is under warranty.


A valid Penn ID card is required for service.
