Symantec Antivirus Resources for Providers
These resources are packages for creating a Managed Symantec Endpoint Protection environment and installing Symantec software on mail servers, intended for use by Penn's Server Administrators. Users looking for information about Symantec Endpoint Protection for desktops and laptops should refer to Antivirus for Desktops and Laptops.
Note 1: Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 12.x is a suite of applications (you can choose which ones to install) that contains the next revision of Symantec's antivirus product. The last full release of the standalone SAV corporate product was SAV 11.x.
Note 2: It is recommended that the same version be used in all situations, however, the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager is backward and forward compatible with older and newer versions of the Symantec Endpoint Protection client that reside within the same product line. Note 2.1: One limitation exists to this rule, which is that a 11.x Symantec Endpoint Protectioin Manger cannot manage a 12.1 SEP client.
If you do not want to migrate all of your SAV 11.x and earlier clients at one time to SEP 12.x, you will need to run two managed servers in parallel. One SAV 11.x server to manage your SAV 11.x and earlier clients and one SEP 12.1.x server to manage your SEP 12.1.x clients.
