Specific Charges for 2001-2002

All Specific Charges are in addition to each committee's "General" Charge in the Council Bylaws

1. Continue to monitor the changes in access to University electronic resources. Are arrangements with Internet service providers reliable and appropriately priced? Have library authentication procedures kept pace with the demand for off campus availability of databases?

2. Monitor the evolution of the Penn Web site; assess its effectiveness as a communications tool for the various constituencies both inside and outside of the University, particularly consulting with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Should the University provide text-only alternatives for the majority of users who access the Web via slower dial-up services?

3. Monitor implementation of the recommendations of the Task Force on Privacy. Work with appropriate members of the administration and members of the Task Force in developing programs to assist students, faculty and staff in protecting their privacy.

4. Conduct a review of the implementation of the Electronic Privacy Policy.
